Carers' Active April

Caring for a family member, friend or neighbour, unpaid, because they can't manage day to day without your support, is rewarding but can also be tiring and leave you with little time for yourself.

Throughout April we have been supporting Carers Active April, a nationwide campaign to encourage unpaid carers to have some me time and take part in some physical activity for their own wellbeing.

We have shared lots of activities and support in North Lincolnshire to help carers get more active.

Here’s how to get involved during week four:

1. Join Carers Support Centre for Fitness for those living with dementia and their carers on Thursday 23 April at 11am at Crosby One, Digby Street, Scunthorpe
2. For some mindful, gentle exercise, Carers Tai Chi is on Friday 24 April at 10am at Carers Support Centre, Redcombe Lane, Brigg
3. All carers support service activities, including peer support groups and dementia cafes at various locations in North Lincolnshire are available on LiveWell North Lincolnshire
4. Get in some steps by following one of the Visit Lincolnshire walking routes. There are routes suitable for all abilities, visit LiveWell and find a route near you
5. There are plenty of ways to workout at home to get your blood flowing and boost your mood. The North Lincolnshire Active Communities team have created six 15-35 minutes videos which are free to access, and no additional equipment is required. 6. Caring comes in all forms and is valuable in making a difference. If you or someone you know is thinking of fostering, meet the North Lincolnshire fostering team at their next pop-up event on Thursday 23 April 10am – 1pm at The Ropewalk, Maltkiln Road, Barton Upon Humber.
