Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, Cervical screening can help identify changes in your cervix and the cells, before cervical cancer starts, yet over 120,000 people in the Humber and North Yorkshire area are not up-to-date with their cervical screening.
This Cervical Screening Awareness Week North Lincolnshire Public Health are working in partnership with Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance and the Ironstone Centre Community Project to provide opportunity for YOU to come along and find out more about Cervical Cancer and the Cervical Screening Programme…

Session duration (approx. 30 minutes delivery, with follow-on Q&A opportunity)
Where: Ironstone Centre, West Street, Scunthorpe. DN15 6HX.
What: Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance want everyone to have the information about Cervical Cancer and the Screening programme available to them, this face-to-face awareness talk includes details on;
- Cervical cancer signs and symptoms
- HPV – what it is and the vaccination programme
- Cervical screening – how this is completed
- Myths about cervical screening – video
- Top tips to stress-free cervical screening attendance
- How to reduce your risk of cervical cancer
This session is open to EVERYONE not just women or people with a cervix, as quite often those closest to us such as, our family members, friends and work colleagues can be the first to pick up on those early warning signs of cancer.
Guest speaker:
Elizabeth Borrill – Volunteer Coordinator of the Cancer Champions Programme at Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance – Lizzie is working to build a network of Cancer Champions across the Humber and North Yorkshire Region to help raise awareness of signs and symptoms of cancer, to encourage early detection – when treatment could be simpler and more successful. Lizzie will lead this awareness talk around Cervical Cancer and the Cervical Screening programme.
