Have Your Say on Home Adaptations and Independent Living Support

North Lincolnshire Council is inviting residents, carers and professionals to share your views on its Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) and Home Assistance Policy.

The DFG programme helps people of all ages remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes by funding adaptations such as level-access showers, stairlifts, ramps and widened doorways. These improvements can have a significant impact on health, wellbeing and quality of life.

Demand for these services continues to increase. In 2025/26, the Council received a record 495 DFG referrals and completed 134 home adaptations – the highest number delivered since 2013.

In addition to the mandatory Disabled Facilities Grant, North Lincolnshire Council also provides extra support through its Home Assistance Policy to help residents live independently for longer.

The Council is now reviewing the policy and would like to hear your views. Feedback is welcomed on existing discretionary support, as well as ideas for future improvements that could make services more accessible, inclusive and responsive to local needs.
