Litter picking group leaders joined forces to tidy one of North Lincolnshire’s popular walking spots this week.

The group braved the rain to collect litter at Ashby Ville Nature Reserve in Scunthorpe and used the opportunity to trial the new litter picking pods located around the town.

Andy Tate, Principal Neighbourhood Officer at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The quarterly meeting of our volunteer litter picking group leaders took place outdoors this week.

“Despite the rain, paths around Ashby Ville Nature Reserve received a litter pick by the enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.

“Representatives from Scunthorpe Litter Pickers, Epworth Ecoists and the East Timor community completed the litter pick and also checked out one of the new volunteer pods which are being trialled across North Lincolnshire.”

Speaking about the pods, Andy said: “Each pod contains litter picking equipment that can be returned following the activity.

“Whether on your own or as part of a group, litter-picking is an easy and fun way to get active, improve your wellbeing, and take care of the environment on your doorstep.”
