Stroke Association - Stroke Recovery Service and Communication Support
The Stroke Association Recovery Service provides support and practical information to people who have had a stroke and their families and carers. We help families prepare for the changes that happen because of a stroke and help them to cope both physically and emotionally. The service can also help people who live alone.
The service can offer:
-support for stroke survivors and their carers
-information to help people understand the effects of stroke
-advice and support to make healthier lifestyle choices to help prevent further strokes
-signposting to relevant providers of care to meet family needs
-advocacy support and advice on how to get help from health services, social services and voluntary organisations
-access to carer support groups and stroke clubs
-support for those with communication difficulties
The Stroke Association Support Co-Ordinator will contact the person who has had a stroke and their family/carer following their discharge. They will also keep in touch with families by phone, email, WhatsApp, Zoom and/or face to face.
