Ways to Wellness
The Ways to Wellness project is supporting people with a wide range of needs. These include mental health issues, substance misuse, physical disabilities and the elderly living in the Brumby Ward (Westcliff, Riddings and surrounding neighbourhoods), who may feel lonely, isolated or lack confidence, to go to activities by themselves. We have volunteers who are trained as ‘Buddies’/Mentors who can support people.
Buddies can support people:
¨ To attend activities with you
¨ To make new friends
¨ To help build your confidence
¨ To feel less isolated
¨ To help you achieve your goals
¨ To support you to join new groups/activities
In response to covid-19 and the isolation people may be feeling as a result we have decided to offer a telephone befriending service.
This is for anyone who is feeling lonely or isolated and would like a regular telephone call from one of our friendly volunteers.
If you are struggling with your Mental Health and need support finding the right services or help with benefits advice, then we may be able to help!
We have an experienced Mental Health Support Worker on hand to discuss your needs and will fully support you to find the right path forward!
Support available:
¨ Support and advice
¨ Support with form filling
¨ Short, medium and long term care planning
¨ Crisis management
¨ Support with GP consultations
¨ Support to reduce the impact of the Covid pandemic on mental health
¨ Support, inspiration and encouragement to reduce isolation
